How Does a Heat Wave Affect the Human Body? (SciAm)
Some might like it hot, but extreme heat can overpower the human body. An expert from the CDC explains how heat kills and why fans are worthless in the face of truly high temps.

1. water, and plenty of it.
and no, BEER IS NOT MAINLY WATER. Beer can be deadly in really hot temps.

Wear hats. Wear loos clothing. Stay in the shade. If you feel bad, your body is telling you to stop. Jogging in this weather destroys brain cells. Continuing to jog for miles is due to brain damage, and does not provide you with any aerobic benefit. To repeat, Beer and Wine are NOT MAINLY WATER.

scotch on the rocks, is, though.

3. Cool! I mean hot.
But I still prefer Texas summer heat to northern winter cold.

4. as long as it's a dry heat
If the alternative is hot and humid, I'd rather deal with freezing cold.

7. Freezing cold AND humid is so painful.
I found 20 degrees much more comfortable on the West Coast than I did
in the South.

5. when i worked in the melt shop or other high heat areas of a steel mill....
i had to wear long underwear. the long underwear underneath my outer wear created a moisture barrier that kept me cool. hell was cooler than the hot steel forging plants i worked at. we used fans but if it got to hot we just clocked out and went to the bar.

6. When I start getting woozy, I go soak my head
Walking around with wet hair cools me off pretty rapidly. I also make sure I get plenty of fluids when temperatures climb.
