Roach is this author of Bonk (which, to me, always seemed weird. I always thought of that word as "boink." anyway... and Stiff, about cadavers, tho that title could have been a chapter in Bonk too, and wouldn't that be nice in a Pulp Fiction kind of way.

It would be like the Vince Vega of the Mary Roach canon.

5. 'Bonk' has an earlier recorded usage than 'boink'

And that allows the use of 'bonkbuster':

1988 ‘DULCIE DOMUM’ in Guardian 24 Dec. (Weekend Suppl.) 6/4 Publisher..(enquires) about progress of blockbuster. Or as spouse now refers to it, bonk-buster... Grab pen, and whisk Charlotte Beaminster from jacuzzi to bathroom window, from which she glimpses new gardener: stocky, balding Slav, with magnetic eyes and masterful manner with turnips. Feel at last bonkbuster is on the road.

And the use of 'bonk' to mean 'to hit' or 'a hit' dates back to the 1930s, while the earliest for 'boink' is a 1963 TV listing for Yogi Bear!
