Hey maybe this is one of those massive galactic artifacts that should exist if there are(have been?) advanced star faring civilizations in the Galaxy. :)

I remember reading years and years ago that to create/observe certain particles, a particle accellerator of huge proportions would be required.....what if such structures occur naturally?
