Finland prepares for possible global bird flu pandemic
Finland is preparing for the possible worldwide spread of avian influenza, or bird flu, by stockpiling about 1.3 million courses of the drug Tabiflu, which can be used to protect those who have been exposed to the disease, and to treat those who show symptoms.
The measures are in response to a recommendation by the World Health Organisation, according to which countries should prepare to protect one quarter of their population against the disease.
"Experts consider the spread of the disease to be so likely that it would be irresponsible not to make preparations", says Merja Saarinen of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health

It is interesting that Finland is stockpiling 1.3 million doses of the anti flu medication, where th US is stockpiling 2 million. Is the Finnish population just over half of the US population? Surly our government is planning to be as prepared as the government of Finland, right?

1. The US is stockpiling only enough for the rich
and their immediate lackeys in government and corporations.

The rest of us have a duty to die off.

4. My personal theory is they don't give a shit who lives or dies
if they live.

If they cared they'd do something, they don't.

9. Ebola and Ebola Marburg will never be pandemic viruses
To qualify that status a virus has to have two things: first, a long prodromal state in which a person is infected and shedding viruses but not yet sick; and second, a high kill rate.

Ebola and Ebola Marburg both have a very short prodromal period. People fall ill as soon as the virus takes hold enough for them to shed new virus and they die very quickly without being able to infect many people.

Influenza is perfect, since the prodromal state may last for up to a week, during which time the person can travel, shop, work, go to church, and infect as many people as he comes into contact with in all these activities. It generally has a lower kill rate than Ebola, though. Even the 1918 flu was only 2.5%-5%, although that was enough to shorten life expectancy in the US a whole 10 years.

Is there any way to determine which is reliable?

31. I can't help you beyond saying read their websites carefully
But if you are afraid to buy on line, you can probably get tamiflu through a local pharmacy.

I'm sure there are safe on line suppliers, but they all require a prescription.

Will feel really short, in the brave new world.

Not that I want the rest of us to die off, but at least the brave new world would have democracy and universal health care and so on. Hard way to get there, though.

17. TAMIFLU, not tabiflu: also, site said take it BEFORE flu
site for tamiflu said, last year, that it works like a flushot, just not as effective.

you DUers get the pill now. PS the more flushots in a series you get, te better your resistance. Health workers normally get them year around. You do the same!

PS flu is around all year, to some small degree. Never touch your face with bare fingers.. use a kleenex folded to four thicknesses. One layer is porous, lets germs thru, and so... many get sick, buy more kleenex, and up the profits. Planned? hmmmmm

35.  lol Do the math
The directions say to take 1 Tamiflu every day in
order to prevent flu. Take it for up to 42 days.

2 million doses divided by 42 days comes out to
47619 people.

Assuming bird flu is rampant, 2 million divided
by 84 days 23,809 people.

What is the total number of BushCo Dynasty
active members and family members? 23K?
