CNN's holograms not really holograms
The CNN anchors were not really speaking to three-dimensional projected images, but rather empty space, Kreuzer said. The images were simply added to what viewers saw on their screens at home, in much the same way computer-generated special effects are added to movies.

Kreuzer said the images were tomograms, which are images that are captured from all sides, reconstructed by computers, then displayed on screen.

Holograms, on the other hand, are projected into space.

CNN officials could not be reached for comment.

1. Just goes to show the laziness of our media.
Nevermind the facts, it's easier, it sounds better if it's a lie.

2. Aside from Blitzer, no one else...
...in the newsroom seemed to be looking at the "hologram". Look at the back row of pundits off to the upper left. None of them are looking over at the image... which would have been a little strange if the image was actually there. Obviously, what they saw in their monitors was more interesting than in the studio.

5. the thing is there IS viable hologram tech out there
it's just not pretty, but it DOES exist.
Probably one of the better ones for the purposes they wanted was to use the smoke holo gram that projects up into the smoke said image.

7. But a smoke hologram would have just made poor Jessica look like a demon...
...instead of Princess Leia...

6. I'm glad this was cleared up because CNN never came clean that Wolf was taking to dead air.
I aaumed he was but was never quite sure. What a scam by CNN.

8. When weather casters are pointing at a big map . . .
. . . it's just a blue wall. All the map effects are added in. That's why you'll often see them looking off stage. They are looking at a monitor that shows them with the map so they know that they are pointing at the right thing.
