2. I wonder what the lingering ground to cloud lightning bolt at the end is due to
...it seems to hang there motionless for 15 seconds or so. Perhaps only an after image

4. No I think that's all the juice from the cloud discharging to earth
As I understand it, those smaller bolts are much like "feelers", when one of them connects with the ground - the juice in the cloud has an easy path to earth. watch the video a couple of times you'll see what I mean. REmember it's not 15 seconds, this is a slow motion cam.

5. I'd seen a few others by that guy; the bolt fades mostly evenly. (nt)
