Just recently I saw a documentary on snow leopards, and these guys had gone out of their way to film Himalayan snow leopard lovin' in tender detail. I felt a little embarrassed, like maybe I should be giving the leopards some privacy even though the damn thing was on TV and the subjects had no idea what cameras were anyway. I don't know why, it was some kind of inexplicable anthropomorphism. They seemed passionate. If the same footage had been of humans boinking loudly and enthusiastically, that show would not have aired on the Discovery Channel's Sunday morning lineup, I can tell you that much.

The article mentions the boy monkeys 'may' be looking at the females private parts to see if she's ovulating, so would that make her high status? Does she lose her status once she's not ovulating anymore? And what makes a male monkey high or low status? Is it thier looks, thier confidence, is there a cast system and some are born into higher status families? Anyone know?
