Scientists make 'bionic' muscles
Scientists have developed artificial, super-strength muscles which are powered by alcohol and hydrogen.

And they could eventually be used to make more advanced prosthetic limbs, say researchers at University of Texas.

Writing in Science, they say these artificial muscles are 100 times more powerful than the body's own.

1. For real?
I mean, when I'm fueling my muscles with those ingredients it SEEMS I'm at least 10 times stronger (and better looking.)

All kidding aside, thanks for posting this.

6. I want to say something sarcastic

about the fact that the men and women who developed this will never be rich and famous like a person who can hit a fast ball or look good in skimpy clothing on a big screen but I just can't come up with something witty.

And btw: I certainly acknowledge that hitting a major league fast ball is no small feat along with other athletic accomplishment, even being a model or movie start has it's requisite hard work and even value...but compared to giving people back the ability to restore movement, or create new tools for rescue workers...well...nuf said...

BBTW: Speaking as a huge 6-Million dollar man fan (I even considered joining the OSI when I was in the Air Force :) ) this news is pretty damn cool!

7. Does that 'bionic' sound come with it too?
Edited on Sun Mar-19-06 12:16 AM by freethought
Actually it does sound like a phenominal breakthrough. I just hope that some good does come of it. I just couldn't resist making the joke.
