Paul Krugman and SS
The latest by Krugman today:

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/11/opinion/11krugman.html?ex=1106443519&ei=1&en=f9e9655847da47fe

Last week someone leaked a memo written by Peter Wehner, an
aide to Karl Rove, about how to sell Social Security
privatization. The public, says Mr. Wehner, must be
convinced that "the current system is heading for an
iceberg."

It's the standard Bush administration tactic: invent a fake
crisis to bully people into doing what you want. "For the
first time in six decades," the memo says, "the Social
Security battle is one we can win." One thing I haven't
seen pointed out, however, is the extent to which the White
House expects the public and the media to believe two
contradictory things.

I really think it's important to distribute the truth to as many people as possible. The spin on MSM is going to get thick! It's already starting.

1. Typical bush regime, Scare the hell out of the people!
If you put enough fear into the hearts and minds of the people, they will let you do anything.

Counter attack:
"The only thing we have to fear, is fear it's self" FDR

2. Just read this. Too bad more seniors can't see this article
I know for sure they would be up in arms over what is going on, but most seniors will not be informed of what is happening either because they refuse to believe or because they don't have access to this and other informative articles about what Bush and his ilk are doing to this country.

I speak as a senior citizen who gets Social Security. I probably won't live long enough to be hurt even if his ideas are passed, which I doubt, because the repugs don't want to lose the votes of seniors who do listen and learn. BUT I do care about seniors-to-be and what is happening to our national debt and deficit. I think this faux debate over SS is another ruse to get our minds off the debacle in Iraq.

3. Pass the info to friends and relatives
This seems to be one of the few ways to get the truth out today. I posted more linkd in the Seniors forum:
