Falwell..What an Idiot
Jerry Falwell was on the Meet the Press last Sunday.

He tried to defend the Iraq War by comparing Iraq to Nazi Germany. He said: "If you had been the president in World War II, we'd all be speaking German now."

He does not know history.

Japan attacked the US in 1941.
US declared war on Japan and Japan only.
Germany declared war on US
US declared war on Germany

The US did not declare war on Nazi Germany until Hitler declared war on the US. I am unaware of any pronouncement of Sadaam declaring war on the US.

2. Want to know who the bigger idiots are?
1) Meet the Press for putting him on what is supposedly a "major" Sunday talk show. Didn't he used to be considered a fringe element???

2) Us -- for watching that crap.

Tim Russert is a good guy in real life. He worked for some good Democrats and has GREAT taste in football teams. Unfortunately, he -- like many so-called journalists today -- are so afraid of inciting the wrath of Karl Rove that they pander to the lowest elements of politics.

7. Why DO liberals watch those wingnuts on TV?
I can understand watching to write in to the show and refute the guest. But it's another thing to just sit there and take it.

3. I've started writing to the shows ...
when Falwell is on and complaining, making sure to call him what he is -- a RADICAL Fundamentalist Cleric. I ask them why they would have someone like that on what is supposed to be a show to discuss serious news events.

5. Jerry was going belly up when his savior came to the rescue.
The soul seller will say he didn't ask for, nor receive, money from the Unification Church - that's because the money came through a Moon front.

from Mr. Parry:
http://www.consortiumnews.com/archive/moon3.html

The full public record strongly suggests that Falwell solicited Moon's help in bailing out Liberty University. In a lawsuit on file in the Circuit Court of Bedford County -- a community in southwestern Virginia -- two of Reber's former business associates alleged that Reber and Falwell flew to South Korea on Jan. 9, 1994, on a seven-day "secret trip" to meet "with representatives of the Unification Church."

The court document states that Reber and Falwell were accompanied to South Korea by Ronald S. Godwin, who had been executive director of Falwell's Moral Majority before signing on as vice president of Moon's Washington Times.

According to Bedford County court records, Reber, Falwell and Godwin also had discussions at Liberty University in 1993 with Dong Moon Joo, one of Moon's right-hand men and president of The Washington Times. Though Reber was queried about the purposes of the Moon-connected meetings in the court papers, he settled the business dispute before responding to interrogatories or submitting to a deposition. He did deny any legal wrongdoing.

6. I hate when people make pronouncements like that...
Not only is it stupid, in the way that you demolished it historically. But the fact of the matter is that there was NO way in hell that Germany or Japan could have successfully invaded us. They had no plans to do so, and Japan made a fatal error with trying to destroy our naval power in the Pacific. At most, if Pearl Harbor never happened and we never declared war on anyone, there would have possibly have been a different Cold War, between three powers rather than two, Japan and Germany on one Side and US and our allies on the other, but who knows about that.
