This seems to have been planned, due to Hal Lindsey's being a consultant to the CIA. In fact, the CIAs leadership has long been top heavy with Knights of Malta, a fiercely loyal Catholic brotherhood since the Crusades, when they were called the Knights Hospitallers. "Wild Bill" Donovan, William Casey, James Jesus Angleton, Allen Dulles, John McCone, etc., etc., were all KOM members.
The works of John J. Robinson, Born In Blood: The Lost Secrets of Freemasonry, and Dungeon, Fire and Sword: The Knights Templar in the Crusades, show us that the Knights Templar--persecuted and excommunicated by the Pope and King of France in 1307--eventually 'morphed' into the Freemasons of modern day. Freemasons have always been anti-Papacy, pro-revolutionary. Witness George Washington (and virtually all of the Founding Fathers), Porfirio Diaz, Simon Bolivar, Giuseppe Garibaldi, Alexander Kerensky...the list could go on, but you get the picture.
Now, in more modern times, the 'futurist' eschatology of Francisco Ribera, long spurnned by the Protestant churches, has now become the accepted end-times world view, overtaking 'historicism', which shows the Papacy as the antichrist.
Furthermore, 'futurism' requires a Third Temple in Jerusalem, and the destruction of the Al Aqsa Mosque. No wonder the Muslims are up in arms ! Since the end of WWII this Left Behind scenario of the end times has been a rationalization, and scripturally unsound one at that, for all that has gone on in the Middle East.
It seems that a reevaluation is sorely needed. I suggest truthseekers take a look at Steven Wohlberg's book End Time Delusions and see for themselves
http://www.endtimeinsights.com/site/v2_3/content/view/31/63/Our Freemasonic Founding Fathers, especially George Washington, knew that religious tolerance was a necessity. But behind the scenes there was always that Freemasonic distrust of the Catholic church's vast hierarcy of power. Want proof ? Look into the story of the 'Theft of the Pope's Stone' with the Washington Monument

and ask yourself 'why' did they get so irate about a simple block of marble going into a memorial to George Washington (an honored Freemason) ? Rather obvious if you look into the history of Freemasons a.k.a. the Knights Templar.
