Impeachment hearing reportedly "not going to happen"

Diary Entry by Brett Paatsch

Tell A Friend

A spokeswoman for the House Judiciary Committee said Tuesday that an impeachment hearing is "not going to happen."

In Code Pink seeks fast exit for Bush, ( http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0308/8836.html )

Amie Parnes at Politico reports at the end of her story on the efforts of Code Pink activists that -

' A spokeswoman for the House Judiciary Committee said Tuesday that an impeachment hearing is "not going to happen." '

This is a significant development if true, and I've no reason not to accept it at face value, but can any other readers of this site confirm, that that is now the official position of the House Judiciary Committee?...

If it is, then it seems that Wexler, and hundreds of thousands of others that joined the petition in calling for hearings, have effectively been denied.

2. Hold EM Responsible...
Every day, every blog somewhere should mention the Criminal Fascist enablers, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reed, Steny Hoyer, Rahm Emanuel. These traitors to our Constitution can never be forgotten until they are defeated and out of office for good!!!!!!! NEVER FORGET!!!!!!!

3. There's a good reason for this. The constitution is clear on the
standard and however much we may despise the incompetent, questionably legitimate regime, you need high crimes or misdemeanors. Like Iran Contra, this is too wrapped up on partisan politics to be judged fairly. We don't need another impeachment fiasco like the GOP's ... aren't we smarter than that?

4. What are you smokin'?
It has clearly warped your reality. High crimes or misdemeanors? The list of crimes is up to almost a thousand for this administration. Do you want to start with the lies they used to invade a defenseless country they told to Congress or with the War Crimes they are guilty of?

7. The US has been invading defenseless countries for years.
Even authorizing torture is nothing new. Disregarding Congress is a political matter; the outcome of defiance should be resolved by elections, not impeachment.

Let the contempt of congress filings play out ... the history books will have their material.

6. To the contrary. Gore could have won a resounding victory, but
allowed the results to be close enough to contest all the way to the Supremes. And if you knew their constitutional role, you'd be nauseated ... but it's all true.

So are the polls taken during and after impeachment. Gore blew his lead and managed to let * appear presidential w/his lack of self-control. It was *'s best performance ever and that's what got him the opportunity.

9/11 got him re-elected.
