Fat and calorie bombs: Every state has worst-for-you foods
Health.com has a list of the 50 fattiest foods you can buy in their state.

Heck, some of them look good.

http://www.health.com/health/gallery/0,,20393387_1,00.html

•In Georgia, you can get what's called a Luther Burger, supposedly named after singer Luther Vandross. It's a ground beef patty topped with bacon and cheese, sandwiched between two Krispy Kreme doughnuts instead of a bun.

•In Iowa, there's a hot beef sundae, which made its debut at the Iowa State Fair a few years ago, O'Connor says. It's mashed potatoes, roast beef, beef gravy, cheddar cheese and a little cherry tomato on top to look like a cherry on a sundae.

•In Vermont, there's Ben and Jerry's "Vermonster," which includes 20 scoops of ice cream, hot fudge, bananas, cookies, brownies and any other topping you could possibly want.

•In Connecticut, diners at Doogie's can get a 2-foot-long hot dog on a roll with onions, chili, cheese and bacon and a side of fries.

1. Hot beef sundae, debut at the state fair?
That meal has been served at Sunday dinner all over for decades. It may not have been called a sundae but the ingredients are all there.

4. Oh man, I want one now.
With a chocolate malt, or a draft Durban Dr. Pepper.

I miss these things in Colorado.

10. Don't be surprised if they try to deep-fry a deep fried sandwich at the state fair ...
.... they've done Deep Fried Pepsi (dunno how), snickers, twinkies, moon pies, etc etc. Every year the shit gets weirder and more disgusting.

14. How They Deep Fry Pepsi..
It is a funnelcake dough ball which then they infuse Pepsi and drop it into a deep fryer. It comes out with fried dough on the outside, pepsi flavor inside and loaded with powdered sugar over it.. mmmmm:patriot:

3. The first three are totally nuts. Connecticut's is half crazy.
Someone must had been on drugs when they came up with the Krispy Kreme doughnuts for buns.

12. In defense of Vermont...
although I'm from NY, those huge ice cream creations (the Kitchen Sink in Boston, etc.) are for a group or a large party, not one portion. You may still be eating more than you should, but not that much.

9. The West Virginia option mentioned
is a 10-pounds-of-beef burger -- ludicrous!

The real (and realistic) West Virginia diet buster is the pepperoni roll -- a mouth-watering combination of pepperoni sticks or slices baked inside a six-inch white bread roll. In the baking process, the grease from the pepperoni oozes out and creates an orange crust on the bottom of the bread.

Pepperoni rolls were invented in Fairmont, West Virginia, as an easy-to-handle food for coal miners. You can find them in most bakeries, groceries, and convenience stores in the state.

We mainline whole hog and pork butt BBQ, and this writer goes after livermush?

13. NC's "Our State" magazine features items from each of 100 counties
"Our State" is a wonderful magazine for anyone living in NC or with close ties to the state. Sort of like "Southern Living", but just on NC. There are similar pubs in other states.

The current issue had food items for each of the 100 counties in NC. While many of the items are taste treats, only a few would qualify as particularly healthy. I have personally "sampled" over one fourth of the items on their list, scattered more than 600 miles across the state! Might make it to half of them if my arteries hold out.

Can't believe the garbage plate from my hometown beat out all the decadent stuff out of NYC. Well, on second thought, I can. That shit'll kill ya. ;)
