WHO Investigating Norway Swine Flu Mutations
This isn't good news.

GENEVA (AP) -- The World Health Organization said Friday it is investigating samples of variant swine flu linked to two deaths and one severe case in Norway, but that so far the significance of the mutation is unclear.

Norway's Institute of Public Health announced Friday that the mutation ''could possibly...cause more severe disease'' because it infects tissue deeper in the airway than usual.

The mutation was found in three of 70 analyzed swine flu cases, said Geir Stene-Larsen, the institute's director.

The same mutation has been found in both fatal and mild cases elsewhere, including in Brazil, China, Japan, Mexico, Ukraine, and the United States, said WHO.

1. Oh Noes - Mutant Swine Flu!
Head for the hills ! .... or in this case the fjords I suppose.

Holy cow - viruses NEVER mutate ...oh wait... they all mutate each season? No! Really?

Never mind.

2. If you have nothing to say, why rant on and on?

3. Let's just hope it doen't mutate so much
That all our sickness and/or vaccine efforts will have been in vain.

22 million of us may someday be very thankful for this early-season wave of swine flu.

4. Indeed! I only hope and pray that it doesn;t mutate like the Hulk did ...

All it would take is one, just one, chest X-Ray for a patient who unknowingly walks into treatment with Swine flu and Blammo! - we're looking at Hulk flu for sure. Thousands of huge angry green germs rampaging around the city ... shudder ... it's difficult to contemplate.

Mutations are never a good thing - I've seen enough movies to know. I don't want to come down with the Hulk flu! Fortunately Hulk Hogan caries an immunity so we may be able to make a vaccine for that as well - with extra mercury if we're lucky!

6. Impossible.
The Hulk was created with gamma rays, not x-rays.
