What Sites Do You Use For Health Info?
Edited on Sat Nov-14-09 12:10 PM by MannyGoldstein
I'm doing a little research, can you take a moment to help? As a small token, I'll send $1 to DU for each response I get.

Which site(s) did you visit the last time you wanted info on a health condition? What did you like or dislike about the site(s)?

Thanks!

1. My HMO
Kaiser Permanente has an extensive website, which I use most of the time. I like the way it's organized. I've used WebMD a few times, too.

3. NHS Direct; Medscape; Embase
Edited on Sat Nov-14-09 12:44 PM by LeftishBrit
The first is simpler to use but doesn't have as much info. The other two are very detailed, and very good especially if you're interested in the research side, but it's sometimes necessary to wade through a lot of material before you find what you want. Also Web of Science, which I get through my university.

I do sometimes use Wikipedia, but never rely fully on it.

For specific things, it depends. Mary Shomon's site is a good place to find links and info for thyroid stuff. http://thyroid.about.com/health/thyroid/mlibrary.htm

Medline http://www.healthgate.com/HealthGate/MEDLINE/search.shtml

National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine http://altmed.od.nih.gov/

American Massage Therapy Association http://www.amtamassage.org/
