1. As in the Public Option or are you talking about mandatory private insurance?
The latter is an impossibility in every way shape or form---considering there are people who cannot pay and meet those requirements. So...I need a better explanation of what you mean.

3. I believe they will come up with...

...mandatory private insurance and it will be funded by taxing current private plans as income. It will come off of our backs and into the insurance corporations coffers.

Of course the private leeches would go for that...it means more corporate welfare.

9. That's unsustainable on it's face. There's no way they can do that and it doesn't make sense.

Please break down how you assume this works because based on your statement and economically speaking private insurance (and any insurance for that matter) would implode following that format.

2. Isn't the idea to get the uninsured 47m insured the goal?

5. Why should we reward private insurance?
Edited on Sun Jun-21-09 10:47 AM by SHRED

Taxing those of us with current private plans as income, and subsidizing those that cannot afford it amounts to nothing more than a corporate welfare program.

PUBLIC INSURANCE NOW!

8. Once again you are jumping the gun.
Nobody said insurance over public plan, did they? Everybody needs to be insured, whether under a private or a public plan. I opt for the public for all, but then I have ins through my company so I haven't gone without. In the end I expect taxes to go up a bit to pay for this, but nothing is free.

4. Your title is really undescriptive - what you mean is far from clear. Why not come up with a more
descriptive title and better explanation in your OP?

6. My bad...
...I thought everyone here realizes what "mandated insurance" means and the ramifications of it.

10. "mandatory insurance" is very different from "mandatory PRIVATE insurance."
You're not specific in that description so the poster has a valid point. You're just not understanding the importance of being specific. HRC during her campaign was also pushing for mandatory insurance---that matches what you explained to me in a way your response for my post.
