I am especially looking for some site that reveals how much insurance companies are involved in all this-particularly their profits for 2008.

(California Nurses Association)

Depending upon where you live, you might find some local grassroots chapters. Indiana has quite a few under the title of Hoosiers for a Commonsense Health Plan.
