Health officials fear return of measles.

"In the outbreaks so far this year, two-thirds of children old enough to be immunized were not vaccinated because of family personal or religious beliefs, Schuchat said."

You reap what you sow...

EDIT: And hopefully it will stop there.

3. This is the important point! Those who cannot be immunized for
legitimate medical reasons are put at NEEDLESS risk because of the failure of others to immunize.

8. "Large Mumps Outbreak Characterized by 2-Dose Vaccine Failure"
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/572739

""Despite a high coverage rate with two doses of mumps-containing vaccine, a large mumps outbreak occurred, characterized by two-dose vaccine failure, particularly among midwestern college-age adults who probably received the second dose as schoolchildren," the study authors write. "

MMR vaccine stands for what again?

9. MMR vaccine coverage levels near an all time high in 2006.
So what accounts for this misleading statement?

"Although the numbers seem small, two developments could set the stage for a major resurgence in this country: an increase in the numbers of people choosing not to get vaccinated and ongoing outbreaks of the disease in Israel and Europe, CDC officials said.

Check the official CDC records below.

Yet, "Health officals fear mass return of measles"? Seems they lack confidence in the product they promote to protect us?

10. Well, that about the stupidest shit I've ever heard!
You seem to be saying that because MMR vaccine is not 100% effective, it should not be used.

The MMR vaccine has saved many lives and untold suffering of innocent children and you want to end that?

So, what would you use to prevent Measles, Mumps, and Rubella? Memory water? Aloe Vera? Chelation therapy?

If you had a better plan I'm sure you would have posted it by now, but you don't.

IN FACT the MMR vaccine is the best we have at preventing individual outbreaks as well as epidemics.

And all you can do is complain, complain, complain. Then whine, whine, whine.

That's pretty pathetic.

20. Ain't that the truth
You have trouble making sense of anything. Especially the health issues in this forum.

And by the way, did you ever find a better solution to the MMR problems? Nope. You just complain because you don't understand. And all you have for a response is a false choice.

So, let's recap.

You don't understand.

You are logic-deficient.

You love to complain and whine.

I guess that about covers it.

And you certainly slept through logic class.

You certainly don't have any better ideas.

Can you do anything besides tear down the good ideas that actually help?

Do you have any motive other than to criticize and obstruct?

Why do you hate vaccinations so intensely?

Aren't you aware that they help millions of people?

Your posts are the perfect example of a closed mind obsessed with a dogmatic hatred.

And just like any obsession, you never give up.

Over the centuries vaccines have been proven to be safe and effective.

Edited on Sat May-03-08 08:58 PM by mzmolly
They need to access retro-active data to compile accurate figures, obviously. But, given they have no evidence of a reduction in coverage in recent years, their "fears" are a bit curious.

42. The quote does appear to misrepresent the situation.
Edited on Mon May-05-08 09:06 AM by Jim__
Looking at the CDC data that you cite, the measles vaccine covered less than 70% of the population 'til '85; and then between 85 and 91 coverage jumped into the low 80% and then jumped again between 93 - 94 when it appears to have jumped into the 90's.

Does anyone know how accurate these measurements are? I mean peak coverage was in 2003 - 2004 at 93.0%; and in 2006, it was at 92.4%. Unless these numbers are dead on, I expect that this difference is within the measurement error.

Birth rates haven't increased recently (of course total number of live births has increased slightly).

I can understand the CDC being concerned about an outbreak of measles. But, can anyone understand the justification for the statment that increasing numbers of people are not being vaccinated?
