{Birth Control} Pill 'stopped 100,000 UK deaths' (BBC)
At least 100,000 deaths from ovarian cancer have been prevented in the UK by the contraceptive pill over 50 years, research has concluded.

The Oxford University team said the pill's rising popularity meant 30,000 new cases will soon be avoided each year, the Lancet reported.

Calls for the pill to be available without prescription were strengthened by the study, the Lancet's editor said.

The relationship between the contraceptive pill and cancer is not all good news - there have been fears about short-term increases in the risk of breast and cervical cancer.

But researcher Sir Richard Peto said that young women did not have to worry about this risk.

3. Chances are, you may see that again in certain states
Once Roe v. Wade and Griswold v. Connecticut are overruled.

2. Believe it or not, I found this out by ACCIDENT four years ago ..
a quack doctor tried to tell me I'd have to have surgery due to a huge ovarian cyst (told me it was probably cancer). I called my brother-in-law (ob-gyn) in another state. He told me; they've known about the reduction for years. I got on it; the cyst shrunk immediately. They knew it wasn't cancer (and my NEW doctor has kept me on it). Per my new doctor (a SoCal favorite), the increase in other cancers is relatively insignificant (AND could be related to a number of things). Due to the possibility of cysts, he has kept me on it. In my family, it turns out, if you're female and not on it, you wind up getting anemia (of the dangerous variety) and have ovarian problems. It's been a real blessing for me.

4. Wow glad you got that good advice
Back in the 70s I had a friend actually get ovarian cancer right after having some sort of experimental fertility treatment. It probably chemically did exactly the opposite of what birth control pills do.

There are a lot of women that have problems with ovarian cysts. I would imagine that most doctors would prescribe birth control pills for those symptoms.

Anyway, glad you changed to a good doctor.
