Diagnosed with Piriformis Syndrome?
Have you been diagnosed with Piriformis Syndrome (PS)? Did the treatment or treatments you had work or not? I've been reading the posts at a Piriformis Syndrome Support Group. And it seems a lot of patients go through many treatments with varying degrees of success. And that group is wondering which treatments work best & which are a waste of time & money.

Anyway, they are conducting a survey about treatment outcomes. They are looking for PS patients to tell them their experiences with medical and even "alternative" treatments like acupuncture. Then they plan to post the results, so patients have more information to make informed choices about which treatments to pursue.

If you have been diagnosed with Piriformis Syndrome by a doctor or Physical Therapist, had at least one treatment and you are interested in sharing your experiences, follow this link to the survey.

If you want to check out the support group, go to

I hope this information helps someone. Purplestate

1. Welcome to DU and sorry to hear that you "may" have this condition,
I say may because you didn't directly state that you were dealing with it yourself, nonetheless, again welcome to DU, hope you stay awhile and enjoy the show....

2. I think we may have quite a few suffering from it here
I didn't know the term, so I looked it up: "The piriformis syndrome is a condition in which the piriformis muscle irritates the sciatic nerve, causing pain in the buttocks and referring pain along the course of the sciatic nerve."

In other words, you are asking if any of us are suffering a pain in the ass. Indeed, there are quite a few pains in the asses here this primary silly season, and many of us are suffering from them.

This is not to make light of this condition for anyone who truly may be suffering from it. I just couldn't help making a bit of a pun out of it, for some political fun.
