Prescription Substances
A contractor of mine needs a one-time supply of morphine. He normally gets it from the Veterans Admin but they are not going to come through for another three weeks. I'm trying to help him because he's 70 years old and doesn't have internet access.

I understand that some place coordinate online prescriptions. Not looking for any places that violate the law -- this is a legitimate need.

Anyone have experience with online pharmacies that might sell controlled substances like this? Would appreciate any responses, or you can PM me.

1. Couldn't the VA
doctor just write the script and he pick it up at a local pharmacy?

2. Apparently the VA Suspects Fraud or Resale
and doesn't want to hear about "lost prescriptions" if it's a controlled substance. That creates a real problem for a chronic pain sufferer who actually loses the substance.

At least this is what he tells me. I beleive him -- he 70 years old, has horribly cut-up knees, and appears to be supressing a great deal of pain. That's why I agreed to help him.

3. Unfortunately
No legitimate doc is going to write him morphine on his first visit w/o the VA's records. His (legitimate options) are the following -- check into an inpatient pain treatment center or drug rehab center. There is the possiblity that if he has a regular doc, they may agree to perform a daily administration of the morphine at the office or have home health perform it if eligible.

Other than that, he is unfortunately screwed. Talk to our DEA, but no doctor is going to take the chance. Its not that he's 70, its that even if he's ok his kids or others maybe the problem.

There are of course some doc's known as "easy targets", and he might get lucky, but doctor shopping is a felony (regardless or Rush Limbaugh).

This is one of those side effects of the war on drugs on often mentioned. It is wrong, unfortunate, but reality.
