I need help, how do I donate hair for cancer patient wigs?
My bf says when you get a lemon make lemonade. My hair grows at incredible speed but not my nails (I have learned the same nutrients are involved with both), I used to complain, I have to pay a ton to get my hair cut/colored etc, and if I want nails it's a lot too.

So, I decided to take my lemons (rapid thick hair growth) and make lemonade. I know that they want 6 to 8 inches, so now I can easily provide that and not be bald. I can google to find this, but sometimes if you get an insider tip, it is even better then a run of the mill type donation.

8. That's my goal. It grows like a weed, so might as well use if for
some good. Tell your son, he is admired by lots of people (I plan to tell others his story!).

4. If you get your hair cut at Supercuts, they'll donate it to...
...Locks of Love for you. I think they need to be able to cut off eight, or more, inches of hair, for it to be usable.

5. I think most salons can help you.
What a nice gesture! A couple of years ago I had mine cut for a little girl in my community. It made me feel very good to be able to help.

7. God, I love you guys. It has gotten to the point ( hasn't been this
long in 20 plus years) where I can't stand it anymore. Oh, I am sure I have at least 8 inches, my hair grows like 3/4 to an inch a month (per ex hair dresser, she moved).

It's like a two fer, I grew it for a donation, but can't wait to get it chopped either!

You guys are amazing, took like to seconds for a response.

I didn't go to locksforlove yet, but, if that works will do, if not calling the hospital cancer ward (never would've thought about that) will be next.

Thanks again, I can't wait to get a cut, it really is getting annoying!

10. Locks of Love is not without some controversy
Edited on Sat Aug-19-06 12:17 AM by Solo_in_MD
There have been some claims that they are management heavy and not much of the hair actually goes to wigs and is instead sold. Read for yourself, do some searchs, and make up your own mind

11. I briefly read their site and printed the donation form. I don't have
a supercuts in the area so, I will call around tomorrow. I have a 2% grey factor, so locks said they sort the grey and sell it, using the proceeds to fund their org., that's reasonable.

My sister started graying at 17, I had my hair colored (it turns white blond in the summer, but darkens in the winter and got tired of people accusing me of dying, when I didn't) since I was early 20's. I hadn't seen my real color for years and suspected lots of grey. At 46, I have very few Grey's, but it took growing my hair out after years to know the true color, light brown with natural blond highlights.

And the weird thing is, as it grows it lightens, my neighbor freaked at the natural blond streaks, it really looks colored.
