Berry interesting. But, yes, more research needed.

7. The research with the mice showed an effect only after a fairly lengthy
exposure to ultrasound (about 30 minutes I believe). So the concern right now is really about the effect of lengthy recreational ultrasound (movies of your child in utero) rather than the short, diagnostic ultrasounds usually done by doctors.

2. Wasn't it Tom Cruise who bought his own ultrasound machine to "look at"
his fetus several times before she was born?

8. That's a good article
It's interesting because of a potential danger that it exposes, but it's even more interesting in that it goes out of its way to point out that the observed impact of ultrasound is small and difficult to verify, and in any case the development of mouse brains is vastly different from the development of human brains. The technology has been in use for 40 years, but there is as yet no discernable correlation between its use and impairment of human brain development.

It's a good study and more work should be done, but I fear that this will be too enthusiastically co-opted by certain fearmongering factions.

10. Interesting, I had two girls in 81 & 84
I never had an ultrasound during either pregnancy. Didn't want one.

I think they've become too routine, and overused to sex the baby, etc. JMHO.
