My wife went in for a biopsy last Tuesday
UCSD Medical is telling us that the doctor will go over the results at our next appointment which is March 18th.

This is unacceptable. The stress of waiting is bullshit.
We will keep calling them and asking for results but so far we have been only directed to leaving voicemails.

So far this medical establishment here in San Diego has been nothing short of dismal. I had heard their reputation was very good. Oh well.
They could care less about her symptoms. No personal care. Dirty facilities. Yuck.

Would you wait 2 1/2 weeks for your results?
:grr:

1. Been there - and had to call them after the waiting period
because no one called us.

The won't tell you over the phone because they can't charge your insurance co. It's as simple as that.

2. Insurance?
Edited on Wed Mar-09-11 09:12 AM by SHRED
It's billed under the HMO. It is a referral from them.

5. They can't bill anyone unless the
patient physically shows up at a scheduled appointment. It's all about the Benjamins.

3. That's a long time, however maybe the term is to allow for multiple
re-testing of the results of the pathology. They want to be certain, not guessing when they give you the results.

9. I'm a doctor's daughter. That is just unacceptable if the reason I offered
isn't why you are waiting.

11. For me you're situation is
deja vu all over again.

If the aloted quota for mishandling a patient were a known number, I was aloted them all. From day 1.

10. And that's still no gaurantee
I was told 3 years ago after a half-assed needle biopsy that I was Stage IV Adenocarinoma of Unkown Origin and had 1 year - 2 years to live. I came home and started to throw out my clothes and remove all my pics from the house.

It's been 3 years, countless Scans, Sonograms, Endo, Colonscopy, you name it I've had every single test known to medicine because these guys were deseperate to find something after having handed me a death sentence. After all that they still couldn't find 'IT'. I had a small lesion on my pelvic bone which was fractured when I was moving heavy boxes in the garage.

I've long since dumped every dr. at Duke and for the past 2 years have a new Dr. who along with my Rhuematologist said, there is no 'there, there'. Go live your life.

Three years in the 'Twilight Zone of Medicine'. Finally, 2 good doctors unlocked the gate of hell.

Like I said, get another opinon if warranted.

4. I'm going to stick my 2 cents in here
Wish someone had done that for me. I had a needle biopsy done at DUKE not exactly a fly by night hospital.

Whatever, the results. Question, question, question every single thing. Bring a notebook, make them give you copies all the tests, right then and there. Get a second opinion. Yes, get a second opinion before you decide to anything if you should need to decide anything.

Do a some net research on anything they may have told you.

I wish you both the best of luck.

8. I was told I was getting
"Rushed" results on a PSA test, and would hear from them that afternoon. Took three days, and six calls, any finally, I just went to the doctor's officer and refused to leave until somebody gave me the reults.

Thankfully, negative, but didn't help my blood pressure.

They sent us the results by mail this afternoon.

Let's hope it truly is good news.

16. Hope it's good news. Years ago, my best friend had a constellation of vague
but troubling symptoms. She went to a special diagnostic hospital and 13 days later began chemotherapy. (She's still kicking after 20 years.) After that experience, we'd see billboards all over town for the place with the motto, "It's time for answers." She thought they should have changed their motto to, "We don't fuck around."
