6. I hate to say "I told you so" (not directed at you), but I was right last year
Obama's "Tour of Homophobia" was excused on here by SO many people. His appearance on the 700 Club, too. It all lead to this. I'd LOVE one of those fuckers who kept posting."Obama is more gay-friendly than Hillary" come and say something now.Oh wait, they still probably actually think that.

JESUS CHRIST IAM UPSET AND ANRY.

20. This all doesn't surprise me either
What I am afraid of, is an anti gay cabal becoming the core of the Democratic party. I think I'd rather see libertarians in this cabinet than jesus freak populists.

9. It's all too obvious...
...that people don't consider 'anti-gay bigotry' to be REAL bigotry.

16. Of course it isn't...
People expressing disappointment and outrage at tossed under the bus by Obama AGAIN is bigotry.
Suggesting that civil unions instead of same-sex marriage stinks of 'separate but equal' is bigotry.
Stating that using religion as an excuse for homophobia is no excuse is bigotry.

The things you learn on a progressive board. :banghead:

14. I've seen it twice today now... so its coming up
http://www.americablog.com/2008/12/when-has-obama-ever-reached-out-to.html

If you're going to argue, as some have, that respect for the civil rights of gay and lesbian Americans is somehow now "liberal" and "fringe" - funny that Obama didn't think it was fringe during his campaign when he publicly embraced our community and our rights - then respect for the civil rights of African-Americans and Jewish-Americans is no less liberal and fringe. Civil rights are civil rights, and it's well established in American civil rights circles that gay rights are African-American rights are Jewish-American rights are disability rights. We are all one people, our rights are inextricably linked.

It's odd, and therefore telling, that Obama considers all of us equals, yet he only seems to reach out to those who bash gays, and not those who bash blacks, or Jews, or people with disabilities, or any other member of America's civil rights community.

Why is that?

If Obama wants to burnish his independent bona fides with a little Sista Souljah now and then, why is his sista always a dyke?

17. Obama IS reaching out to those who bash "The Left".
Most of the gays I know are solid Leftys.
They must be getting tired of being thrown under the "Change" bus.

I am.

19. I'm sorry this is happening. The last two days have been a learning experience for me.
Ugly as hell but still valuable for me, anyway, in getting a little more clear.

It's not much but at least, clarity helps when trying to push back. :grouphug:

22. Me, too
As I said in another thread, there would probably be heads exploding all over DU if Obama had chosen someone like openly anti-science, misogynist homophobe James Dobson for the invocation, but one thing the "Get over it" crowd doesn't seem to realize is that despite Warren's slighty-less-batshit-insane-than-Dobson persona they're essentially the same person. Warren just markets his particular bullshit differently.

26. Some are actually saying that Warren has no relevance to my life
but somehow a former 60's radical, who is not part of the gay civil rights debate is related?

They are getting desperate in their apologetics.
