A little background. My Aunt (who voted NO) joined this church several years ago. She asked the Pastor "is this a church that hates?" and Father Johnny said "no". Michael and I met a few people from her church and they were very cool and loving toward us. When my Uncle Ronnie died we went to the church for his memorial and we felt very excepted and loved.
As many of you know my cousin stabbed me in the back and said "Marriage is between a man and a woman!".
My aunt has found comfort in her church. But it seems that when Father Johnny left (Just my opinion) things have changed.
My aunt hold bible study at her house since she's very close to the church. Well, last night a lot of the conversation turned to the election. There was all this chatter about Prop 8. My aunt told my mom "I just had to hold my tongue". When the conversation turned to "It's a choice" my aunt said that my cousin "Had to hold her tongue".
Fuck that!!!
I love my aunt with all my heart. But "hold my tongue"? Bullshit.
And for my cousin to DARE to say she "held her tonger" is another stab in the back.
When my mom said to my aunt ... "Well why did she tell Ronny she doesn't support his marriage?" my aunt just sort of said "Well, it's in the bible". Which she could not tell my mom WHERE it was in the bible.
I can't be pissed at my aunt .... too much. The whole "hold my tongue" shit doesn't cut it.
But I told my mom that my cousin can't have it both ways. Don't pat me in the back with one hand and stab me in the back with the other.
I had it out the other night with my own aunt in Cali, who voted yes. The woman is batshit insane and I don't really bother with her, I was just calling to talk to my one sane cousin who voted no.
It was all "blahblah sin blahblah have some black babies blahblah"
