Hi GLBT DU'ers. - I'm in a 'Walk for Life', AIDS fundraiser.

Would you help us out?

San Luis Obispo County's AIDS Support Network has remained one of the county's premier service organization for twenty years.

The CA State Office of AIDS recognizes the ASN as a model of public/private collaboration, efficiency and effectiveness.

As you know, budget cuts have been pretty severe. They could use a hand or two.

I'm walking this year to help raise funds for the organization.

I've been involved with the ASN since 1988, the year I got my HIV diagnosis. They've been with me through thick and thin. A great bunch of folks there.

Two years ago I developed a bleeding disorder associated with HIV disease - idiopathic thrombocytopenia. It became life threatening. Their quick intervention in coordination with my doc got me in to a specialist the next day. He made the calls that I know saved my life.

That was then. This is now. I want to give back, as I can. I'm walking in the 17th annual Walk for Life.

I'd like to ask you for your sponsorships.

The links below include the ASN's homepage and my walk page for the event. I am "pinto DU."

Thanks for anything you can do.

3. Hi pinto. Thank you for doing this!
FYI, the second link in your OP isn't working. I found your fundraising page here.

I'm making a donation now. Thank you for doing this on behalf of those living with HIV and AIDS, yourself included. My partner is HIV+, so charities such as yours are dear to me and I'm always looking for ways to help out. I'm even considering doing the AIDS Life Cycle in a year or two. :)

Best of luck to you, and have fun with your walk! :hi:

4. Thank you! I edited your link into my original post. Hope that works.
I'm a little clumsy on that stuff. Bottom line though, I appreciate your support, and feedback. I knew this forum would come up as they could. I don't post much, but I'm here.

10. Thank you, pinto.
Scott was the first person I came out to as gay. I knew Scott was gay, and I was confused and I didn't know who to talk to about it. Scott helped me on the road to my ultimate acceptance of myself as a gay man. We became good friends and I loved him. I still miss him.

14. Donated earlier today, buddy.
Anything I can do to help a fellow activist out, I'll do my best to lend a hand.

Please let us know how the experience was!

xoxo
Jack

17. Doing well, pinto.
Been traveling a lot for work. Presented a 2 hour workshop at USCA which was frightening but survived. Looking to bring our 4 day treatment education program out to Cali.

And you?

18. Well, thanks. Doing my bit in testing and syringe exchange and looking for rain, out here.
It's early, but I get antsy for the rainy season about now. Take care.

16. I will donate tomorrow when I get some cash
I don't have a whole lot. I lost my uncle and his partner 20 years ago and would like to contribute, though.

Thanks for walking.
