Protesters come out for and against Proposition 8
Proposition 8 has stirred up the passions of residents of south Orange County as the election grows near. Protestors for and against the proposed state constitutional amendment are showing up at many of the area's major intersections.

Brett Smith of Las Flores was one of those protesting for a "yes" vote at the corner of Oso Parkway and Antonio Parkway in Las Flores.

"It will impact our religious freedom," said Smith. "It's important to protect the family and the children."

Smith, like many of the protestors, is associated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; a big supporter of the Yes on 8 campaign. Reportedly, the church accounts for more than 40 percent of the more than $26 million raised so far for the campaign, according to news reports.

Jenny Julander, 38, a homemaker from Las Flores who was out in support of Prop. 8, said a marriage should be defined as between a man and a woman.

"I have a brother who is gay," Julander said. "I love him. He's part of my family, but I think this is the definition of marriage."

3. They LIE
Prop 8 will not impact religion at all. It's all about civil rights. Ministers are not required to marry a man and a woman unless they chose to do so. California does not have anything about teaching marriage in the ed code. They LIE

5. Bigots always lie
They can't rightly say they're doing what they're doing because they're bigots, right? So they make up bullshit stories about how they're actually the persecuted ones that are protecting themselves. Same shit, different century.

4. No--it impacts OUR religious freedom.
Specifically, the freedom to NOT have to live our lives by the rules of a religion we don't believe in.

When they do this, they are simply trying to pre-emptively claim the strongest argument that we have against THEM.
