>Thought I'd drop in on the gay neighbours.
Cool. I drop in on the straight neighbors all the time. You really never know where you might make friends.
>Mind if I come hang out and drink tea, maybe bake sometimes?
Oh sure! I make a mean cup of tea, although I make better coffee. And baking? All you want. Any time. You will earn my eternal devotion.
>How is the forum?
Great. Moderated with class and finesse. Incredible people posting here. Incredible, insightful, funny, strange. (I recommend the strange ones! Sincerely.) Great place to hang out. So hang out here more. Guarantee you'll be welcome.
>Should it be in the "Politcal issues" section - I just don't think it >should be considered
I would like to think it shouldn't be "political", just life really, but it is political. And those politics are real and have real conseqeunces. Too often matters of life and death. Literally.
>and "Issues" I mean, you guys are gay, what's the issue?
Apparently, the issue is that we are gay. Don't worry, I never figured that one out either.
>AND: What does the "BT" stand for?
Ok. It's LGBT. L stands for Lesbian. It comes first partly from political fights and partly because lesbians have been in the forefront of the movement and often the worst treated. The least they deserve is a little respect. G is for gay - usually for gay men, although gay is often used to describe our sisters as well. B is for bisexual - they are often marginalized by misunderstanding by both hetero and homo people. They exist and they have real issues to address and I count myself honoured that I have many bisexual friends. T is for Transgendered - what used to be called transsexual. I count myself especially lucky to have transgendered friends. They suffer the worst discrimination, the most indiscriminate violence than any of us. From heterosexual, gay, lesbian, and bisexual people. Listen to them. They have extraordinary stories to tell.
But that is not all who we are here. We are all those people and more. We are kinky people, polyamorous people, ordinary middle class straight people. See, straight people - like you, I guess, maybe you have a few weird kinks you don't like to talk about or maybe you don't, doesn't matter - are welcome here.
So kick back. Drink some tea. Go into the kitchen and bake some cookies ( that will make you many many friends!).
In other words... welcome.
Khash.
