A good friend of mine from college became a Weselyan Christian
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 06:08 PM by dsc
He is the second straight guy I ever told I was gay and he was so cool about it. I admit to being so stunned at this. I had tracked him down on the net and emailed him via classmates.com. I know it is possible he is still OK with me but he likely isn't. It was really so shocking to be honest.

To read up on this church

1. I'm not quite sure what you mean by Wesleyan.
Wesley was the founder of Methodism, which is generally a pretty liberal church. There are many "welcoming" Methodist congregations, who affirm gay people. Is this some other denomination I don't know about?

2. I hadn't heard of it either

It is an evangelical offshoot of Methodism.

3. I am ethnic Methodist.
Until this very moment I had never heard of Wesleyan Christians. I thought they were going to be followers of Charles Wesley (not John). In other words, I figured they were polygamists.

I don't understand this movement - why don't these people just become Southern Baptists or join some other fundamentalist church? Oh I know, probably they are claiming Methodist church property as their own. Sue the bastards.

4. at one time methodist church was an "evangelical church"
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 06:29 PM by madrchsod
but through the years "lost" it`s some of it`s evangelical roots. we have an evangelical methodist church and a "regular" methodist church. as far as i`m concerned i`m a shout`n methodist.

your friend knows you are more than just a label...christ does`t care what you are, he cares about how you treat others.
