Trangender murdered in Greeley, CO

The murder of 18-year-old Justin Zapata - who went by the name Angie and lived as a woman - was likely a hate crime, said a spokesperson for the Zapata family.

"With what we've seen in the past, this could be very much connected and very much of a motivation for this kind of violence," said Kelly Costello, director of victim services for the Colorado Anti-Violence Program.

Two of the most enlightened people I know live in Greeley, but I know they are far and away the exception to the rule in town. Angie looked like a beautiful woman, it's such a senseless a crime.
