Has anyone been a group marshall for a gay pride march?

this year I volunteered to be a marshall and I was hoping someone could tell me what their experience as a marshall has been

1. Group marshalls, I believe, help keep things running smoothly

I've done similar work with parades. It is tiring work, as marshalls are the first to the staging area and have to set up the check-in tables, make sure everyone has water, etc. Then comes the task of herding cats to their appropriate position in line, and making sure that the groups leave the mark evenly spaced. Some usually walk ahead of the parade to make sure the way is cleared and that the spectators stay out of the way. Then there is breaking down and cleaning up the staging area, and making sure that the parade route has been de-littered after the parade has passed and the people gone.

Tiring, but potentially some of the best fun you'll ever have. And bless you: events like pride parades cannot happen without volunteers. :toast:

2. thank you techbear. on a shallow note, i now realize i cannot dress up for the parade

since i have to actually work. i would have liked to be dressed as an indian bride.
