A funny thing happened during some political activism today.

I was volunteering with a LGBT-rights group today to try to defeat an anti-gay "protect marriage" ballot measure that the right wing is trying to get on the ballot. When the three of us who were at the location talked after our shift was over, we discovered that all three of us were heterosexual. However, all three of us had assumed that we were the only heterosexual of the three!

and hysterical! Thanks on the volunteering. We had an issue like that in Ohio 2004, the rethugs used it to get every back woods wacko to the polls. They came out and voted against the gays and unmarried heteros. Go figure. Good luck, Kim

Just goes to show that people such as you and your fellows realize the basic human rights nature of the issues involved.

I painted a large remodel for a couple who were very predominant in the "protect marriage" movement here in the North Bay...came onto the job one morning and they had placed one of their ballot petitions where everyone working the job could sign, with the unspoken assumption that "of course, we would all want to sign it"...

My refusal to do so made the rest of the time on the job pretty uncomfortable, but it also sparked some debate on the job-site...I was pretty appalled at how many people said they had signed because of the job-context, rather than what they said they actually believed about it (if they were being honest, that is...)
