University Establishes Institute To Study Sexual Orientation

The University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication is establishing an institute to study sexual orientation and other diversity issues in the news.

The Leroy F. Aarons Summer Institute on Sexual Orientation Issues in the News is named for the founder of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association.

Aarons (pictured), also a former national correspondent for The Washington Post and executive editor of the Oakland Tribune, died last year of cancer. He was 70.
