Fox host makes gay jokes at death of Heath Ledger
A variety of MSNBC hosts were "sickened" by comments made by Fox host John Gibson on his radio show, soon after the death of actor Heath Ledger, that appeared to hint that the actor was gay.

Gibson used the occasion of the 28-year-old actor's death to crack jokes about the actor and play clips from his most notable film, Brokeback Mountain. The remarks from the radio host seemed to make insinuations about the actor's sexuality.

"Maybe he was a weirdo, I'm thinking about it right now," Gibson said on his show.

Gibson also played a memorable line from Ledger's most notable film, Brokeback Mountain, and said, "Well, he found out how to quit you.

"Heath Ledger died, and I'm sure people will be upset," Gibson continued. "All you "Brokeback Mountain" fans who want to give Christine a call, she'll be happy to talk to you."

"I don't know how you stay on the air after doing something like that, quite frankly," Mika Brzezinski said in response on MSNBC's Morning Joe. Show host Joe Scarborough also excoriated Gibson's staff for letting him take the discussion in that direction.

Keith Olbermann also declared Gibson the "worst person in the world" on his show Wednesday night.

1. I guarantee you that dumb motherfucker never even saw the movie
It's just fucking typical of these idiots - they make fun of something not knowing a damned thing about it. All they need to know is that the movie features two gay characters, and that's enough for them to start issuing their pedantic judgments.

3. No taste, no values, no ethics
First of all, was Ledger gay? Even if he was, a tragic death like his shouldn't be treated lightly. Gibson and the others of his ilk are just spawns of the devil who disguise themselves in righteousness. And what's a shame is that if someone went up to him and beat him senseless, they would be doing society a favor but the law wouldn't see it that way.

6. Well... on the other hand
If John Gibson died, let's say, run over by a steamroller, how many on here would crack a joke about it? (I'm looking for a "raises hand" smiley.)

9. Not surprising....
Exactly what I'd expect from that strata of dumbass... He played a gay man in a movie, ergo- he's gay. And KITT really talked, too. :eyes:

12. GLAAD call to action: Contact info. Please call/contact.
Let me remind everyone that this actor risked his career for the role. Many other actors refused it. Heath Ledger also leaves behind a very young daughter and a former fianceé, as well as his immediate family to whom he was close and are no doubt not in any mind to hear such horrible words while they mourn his death.

TAKE ACTION NOW!
GLAAD strongly urges you to contact Fox News and ask its representatives why they continue to provide a platform for John Gibson's cruel and tasteless comments.

13. It's called "acting," Gibson, and you of all people should know about acting
You claim to be a human being, and a knowledgeable one at that, but we all know it is nothing more than a part you play (and badly, at that.)

Crimeny, what poor excuse for dog crap he is.

14. Fox has a radio network? When did that happen? Also....
he's not only confused the actor with the character but confused the two lead characters:

>>>Gibson also played a memorable line from Ledger's most notable film, Brokeback Mountain, and said, "Well, he found out how to quit you.>>>>

The Jake G. character said it to *Heath's* character; Gibson's even got that backwards.

Emailing Fox as per Glaad is OK but I'm thinking emailing the FCC might be more likely to cause ripples for this creep. And for his creepy employer.
