Churchgoers Rally Against Colorado Anti-Gay Amendment
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/09/092506colorado.htm

Clergy from eight denominations led a rally on the steps of the Colorado state Capitol on Sunday to protest against a proposed amendment banning same-sex marriage.

More than 250 people attended the demonstration. The pastors and LGBT community leaders urged people vote against the amendment in November.

"I believe that it is homophobia and not homosexuality that is a sin," Denver Unitarian minister. Mike Morran said.

The preachers also said that the amendment would violate the separation of church and state by making it illegal for pastors of gay friendly churches to perform weddings. They also noted that an existing law in Colorado limiting marriage to opposite-sex couples is likely unconstitutional on the same grounds.

1. A hearty well done to Mr. Morran
I'll say it and advocate it till the cows come home. If gays can't marry and can't serve in the military then they shouldn't pay taxes.

6. Agreed
That's a great idea. If we don't have equal rights, how can we pay into the system?

4. Remember When CO Voted Against The Olympics?
That would never happen now, CO is greedy and filled with some real icky people. I remember my vote against the Olympics was to take the spot light off Colorado. Silly hippie girl!!! I would like to think Coloradoan's would vote to grant gay people the right to marry, but there's so many red types living here now .

Colorado only state ever to turn down Olympics

By John Sanko
Denver Rocky Mountain News Capitol Bureau

Colorado stunned the world in 1972.

With a brash young lawyer-lawmaker named Dick Lamm leading the way, residents said they didn't want the 1976 Winter Olympics.

And they said it in a big way. The landmark vote on Nov. 7, 1972, wasn't even close -- 514,228 to 350,964. A 59.4 percent majority said they weren't willing to spend tax dollars to have the Games in their state.

It was an amazing turnaround from just 21/2 years earlier, when a small Denver group returned as conquering heroes from Amsterdam after meeting with the International Olympic Committee.

They were greeted with a brass band and a motorcade through downtown Denver after the city was awarded the Olympics http://www.denver-rmn.com/millennium/1012stone.shtml
