Third World Anglicans Get Warning About Gays From South African Bishop

The prelate of the Anglican Church in South Africa says church leaders in the developing world could find themselves ostracized from the worldwide denomination over their intransigence on homosexuality.

The Most Rev Njongonkulu Ndungane who heads the Church in South Africa is the only leader in the denomination's southern hemisphere not to endorse a plan to split world Anglicanism into conservative and liberal divisions.

The primates from the Global South group met last week in Kigali, Riwanda where they recommended the creation of the two divisions and called on American parishes opposed to gays in the priesthood to join them. (story)

The Global South conference is made up of Anglican provinces in Africa, Latin America and Asia and represents about half of the world's 77 million Anglicans

1. I had to laugh when I saw the term "primate" -- accurate, I'm sure . . .
But ripe for ridicule.

5. Ndungane could care less about gays - all he cares about
is keeping his base consolidated, and therefore keeping the basis for his own power.

I have such a hard time being tolerant of any religion at all these days - I would love to just push a button and send them all off to their own planet, along with their petty evil tempered deities.

Even the Dallas Voice every week has four or five articles on this church or that congregation's internal political struggle. I'm turning into a bigot. I don't know how I got here.

Both kings and high priests climb to power on the backs of the faithful, but kings and high priests have only each other to compete with at the top, where little or no faith is involved. The top for some isn't very high. I'm just sick of hearing about it.
