I am so sick of being a political football

I put in a long day today. I teach in a district about an hour from my apartment and decided to stay for the football game tonight. I intended to grade, enter grades into the gradebook, etc but since our computers were down I just killed a little time and went to the game. At the game what did my eyes see but Vernon Robinson campaign fliers. His big issue. Congressman miller voted to let homosexuals bring their foreign lovers to the US. He also won't stand up for traditional marriage.

I worked my ass off today educating the children of this district. I was gone from 6:20am to 9:20pm. That is 15 hours. I shouldn't have to read campaign literature from the modern day equivalent of a Klansman. I sure shouldn't have to read such literature at my workplace.

I work, I pay taxes, I obey the law, and I try to make life better. I don't deserve to feel like a second class citizen at my own job site.

On edit I apologize for the rant like nature of this post but I was tired and all that. I thank you for both your support and your patience to put up with rants like this. I just got so mad seeing those flipping fliers at my school. What really makes my blood boil is that some poor young gay kid will see this crap and it might make him or her feel low.

It is always a drag to run into small-brained crap like that at the end of a long day.

Let them sit around in their pathetic little circle-jerks and leave you alone to do what you do best.

but at a community college in Western NC. Robinson is a pig. He ran against my rep, Madame Foxx, in the primary in 2004, and he tried to convince voters that SHE was in league with the "radical homosexuals" as he put it in one commercial. Ugh. If Madame Foxx is a liberal, then I'm straight.

Fight back. Point him out to be the Kapo and opportunist and hypocrit that he is. If he can pass out flyers so can everyone else. DSC I would certainly not go the route of succumbing to feeling victimized - that's the goal. The kinds of people he appeals to love to hate "victims" because they despise weakness.

Ironically, in that form of mental illness, publicly exercised against decent humans, they create the very people they love to hate.

So be strong. Go on the attack, don't take time to react to outrageous statements designed for distraction, AND BE RELENTLESS.
