Illinois Anti-Gay Group Ends Ballot Fight
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/09/091506illinois.htm

An Illinois group involved in a legal battle to get a referendum on gay marriage placed on the November ballot has decided to give up. But the organization says it intends to continue pressing the legislature to act.

Protect Marriage Illinois said late Thursday that it would not seek a full court review of last week's decision by a panel of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals that the state decision not to place the referendum before voters was a violation of the group's constitutional rights.

Protect Marriage Illinois, a group made of of several anti-gay religious organizations, began collecting signatures after the legislature last year rejected an attempt to pass an amendment to ban same-sex marriage. (story)

The referendum calls upon the Illinois lawmakers to enact a constitutional amendment to ban all unions of same-sex couples including marriage, civil unions and domestic partnerships.

4. I'll second that. And a heartfelt fuck you to Peter LaBarbera
Head of same group.

Here's an even better idea. I'll send La Barbera a used dildo and he can go fuck himself.

There is no place in Illinois for hatemongers like these bigots.

3. As an Illinois voter I'm glad this was defeated ...
... but unfortunately I still don't see any prospect of marriage equality any time soon.

And this is a relatively gay-friendly state.
