Christian leaders slam gay parade in Jerusalem
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1150885865392&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

The heads of three prominent Jerusalem-based Christian organizations on Tuesday lambasted plans to hold an international gay parade in the city this summer, and urged Israeli authorities to reconsider allowing the controversial event to take place.

"It is clear that Jerusalem has been deliberately targeted not because it has any particular significance to the gay and lesbian community, but because of the supreme importance this city holds for those of biblical faith.

"The decision to hold this event in Jerusalem can only be seen as a calculated and confrontational act meant to provoke and offend those who adhere to timeless, biblical moral standards in the very place they hold most dear," a joint statement by the heads of the three Evangelical Christian organizations stated.

The statement was cosigned by Bridges for Peace, Christian Friends of Israel, and the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem.

Now that just has to be an Oxymoron.

9. Depends on what part of Christianity you mean.
There is a strong stream of though on the Evangelical wing of Christianity which holds that the foundation is part of the "Divine Plan" as written in the Apocalypse.

The incredibly strong pro-Israel lobby in America really doesn't have anything to do with the supposed influence of Jews, but rather of dispensationalist Evangelicals - I know which group I'd prefer as well.

10. Oh you are so right!
When Pat Robertson was honored at some Jewish-American banquet this year for all of his hard work defending the state of Israel, I almost puked. JEWS GET A CLUE!!! They aren't helping you out of some feeling of ecumenical harmony, nor because they think you deserve a state, nor because they're just really friendly... it's because they want Jesus to come back, take THEM all to heaven, and leave you all here to suffer for a thousand more years!

Did anyone hear that NPR story about the red cows in Texas? If you're interested in why the Religious Right likes to take on Jewish causes, go to npr.org and look it up. It's amazing, and that story is only the half of it!

I bet they cook on the sabbath, eat shellfish and overlook the occasional hymen gone AWOL.

I wonder how they would feel if Mister Jesus descended from heaven on a half shell to go to the parade, and it turned out they had banned it? And that jesus had shown up in fabulous drag, and there he was standing on a damn half-shell over an empty street looking for the parade.

If I were Mister Jesus I'd start flinging lightning bolts at the bigoted bastards. Poof you freak bastard! - you got three nipples! How ya like me now! See ya at the pearlies in a coupla years - tell me how that extra tit worked out for you.

But that's just if I were jesus. Just saying

6. well first of all -- you self riteous bastards -- there are gay folk
living in jerusalem -- we are EVERYWHERE.

and where we live we want Pride parades.

second -- if we had an ulterior motive -- maybe it's because you are always trying to beat us to death with your fucked up version of the faith?

and if jesus were to show up tomorrow -- he's be at a Pride parade.
and he'd be having a blast -- workin some sandals to some house music from some fabulous queen named mary.

7. If I'm not mistaken...
Israel is the Jewish state. Those "Christian Friends" just want to suck up to the conservative side of the Knesset.

11. Israel, the Jewish state ...
... is a very gay-friendly country, especially for that part of the world.

But in the "Holy City" a parade gets attention from all over the world. Indeed that's a good reason to have it there.

Why be invisible for the sake of so-called peace?
