NEA to "back homosexual marriage" ?
The AFA is getting ready to do a massive campaign against the NEA about their stance on homosexuality.

It MUST be countered!

Here's the email going out to all the fundies (don't ask how I got it - but the phrase "know thy enemy" is applicable. :) )

National Education Association Set to Endorse Homosexual Marriage

Teacher's union begins plans to promote homosexual marriage in public
schools

Dear xxxxx,

The National Education Association is set to endorse homosexual marriage at
their convention coming up in Orlando June 29 through July 6.

The new NEA proposal essentially says schools should support and actively
promote homosexual marriage and other forms of marriage (two men and one
woman, three women, two women and three men, etc.) in their local schools.

The new proposal, expected to pass overwhelmingly, is found under the B-8
Diversity paragraph:

The Association... believes in the importance of observances,
programs and curricula that accurately portray and recognize the
roles, contributions, cultures, and history of these diverse groups
and individuals.

The Association believes that legal rights and responsibilities with
regard to medical decisions, taxes, inheritance, adoption, legal
immigration, domestic partnerships, and civil unions and/or marriage
belong to all these diverse groups and individuals.

Translated, that means the NEA will promote homosexual marriage in every
avenue they have available, including textbooks, to all children at all age
levels and without the permission or knowledge of parents. Their plans will
include every public school in America.

Take Action

* First, please forward this to all parents with children in public
schools. They need to be aware of the plans the NEA has to
indoctrinate their children with their pro-homosexual, homosexual
marriage agenda.

* Click here to send your email to your NEA state affiliate.
<https://secure.afa.net/afa/afapetition/takeaction.asp?id=204>

* Please forward this to public school teachers you know so they can
be aware of the NEA's plans. In fact, their membership dues will
be used to help implement the new NEA plan.

AFA encourages teachers who do not approve of their dues going to the NEA to
find an alternative teacher's group to help them retain their benefits.
Teachers might want to give the CEAI home page a look
http://www.ceai.org/index.htm or find another alternative in their state.

If you think our efforts are worthy, would you please support us
<http://www.afa.net/donate.asp> with a small gift? Thank you for caring
enough to get involved.

Sincerely,

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman
American Family Association

P.S. Please forward this e-mail message to your family and friends!

1. Here's a question
I have been a member of the NEA for almost 40 years. Is that information public?

I ask because I am concerned that this could impact NEA membership and local union strength. In my district it is all or nothing. If you belong to the local association, you pay NEA dues as well.

Is membership private or public?

2. gee, if you are a union member, ask your union rep, ok? or
call your state association. or call the NEA national organization.

Getting your news from the nazis is not necesarily reliable.

Gosh, didn't know there were any nazis on board here!
My school is too small for a union rep.

No matter, I was thinking of resigning from NEA anyway. The Florida chapter is in bed with Jeb.

3. Wildman Wildmon is a well known LIAR for Jehus
You can't trust anything that comes from that man's office.

He's far enough off the wall that he's often dismissed by his more successful co criminals in the god business.

5. I *know* that anything
this @ss says is a lie in some way or another....

the point IS - plenty of fundies will BELIEVE this lie - and start their campaign... it needs to be countered.

9. Thank you
I used portions of that to semi-tactfully rebut the AFA letter. It's a tough crowd.

I love the fact that it was passed over a decade ago - and that if you read it in full you see that Wildmon is full of cr@p. Though if I said he was - they'd immediately tune me out.... so we'll see. MAYBE some seeds of doubt/dissent/questioning will be sown.

10. Joey and Nicole's Two Mommies
I would like to know where these people live? Under rocks? When I was a TA a few years ago, our class had a parents reading day. Each 1st grader brought in a parent/parents or grandparent/grandparents (living with them instead) to read their favorite story before the class. Both Joey and Nicole brought in both of their two Mommies.

Do you know what? Nobody even batted an eye about it. Once again, these children do not live with blinders on. No, not from textbooks, but from seeing at their NEIGHBORS.
