Support Grows For Repeal Of Anti-Gay Military Law

The number of lawmakers co-sponsoring a bill to repeal "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell", the military's ban on gays has grown to 114.

This week four members of Congress joined 110 others who have signed on to the legislation. The newest supporters are Republican Congressman Sherwood Boehlert (R-NY) and Democratic lawmakers Cynthia McKinney (D-GA), Julia Carson (D-IN), and Michael Doyle (D-PA).

Boehlert is the fifth Republican co-sponsor and McKinney joins nine other members of the House Armed Services Committee who are also co-sponsors of the bill.

The legislation was introduced in March 2005 by Congressman Marty Meehan (D-MA).
