1. Don't be so sensitive.
Many threads die a quick death in the discussion forum, as there are so many threads. Post it in politics and it will last a lot longer.

2. many threads die a lonely death

There is so much evil going down
it is difficult to weigh in on every
thread we wish.

3. I think the subject line was the issue there.
"Protecting Marriage"

People sensitive to GLBT issues are really going to click on that.

4. I post things re: homos in GLBT
and they often die a quick and un-noticed death. No rhyme or reason to it, it just happens.

5. unless you post about
Entire Island of Aruba Searches for Missing Blonde White Chick as Missing Dallas Brunette Homo stays Missing in Mexico City.

Oh yeah, that was a day of DU infamy - I had no idea there were so many stupid people here who thought I hated blondes, caucasions, and "chicks" because I was gay, no matter what I said.

I'm telling ya - it was SUPER ugly and I'm proud to have taken several dozen scalps that day before it got locked.

Yeah, some stuff just quietly croaks though, and it's not really related to anything but random timing and who's looking at what for the moment. I read it but didn't post, others may have too.

6. Racial issues seem to not be very popular either
Since we're on the subject of slow posts. I noticed the race/equality section is extremely barren. Though I'm not sure about race issues in the general page.

8. Sucks that we spend so much time bitching about how we want change
but so little time actually figuring out how to make those changes happen.

In '06 they're going to pump the airwaves full of "protect marriage" - even Frist is supposed to introduce an amendment in June. They have nothing else to fall back on (even today's Dems are spending all the money meme)

What we did before didn't do a damn bit of good - they drove their base to the polls in every state that had it on the ballot, ours bought into the hype and thought tax breaks for homos was going to start the next disaster or something. Reasoning with them did no good, trying to explain why it wasn't fair didn't get it either, we have to do something different!

So we JOIN them in the fight to Save Marriage. We start trying to get the Constitution amended to do away with all divorce, just like Jesus said. Let the wingers figure out how to explain that 1) it really isn't about hating the homos but they won't 2) support getting rid of divorce.

15% wingnuts aren't ever going to change their opinion. but the other 35-50% out there would get a real hard wake up call to what these people are all about. Either they freak out that the wingers will succeed or they realize that only cared about hating the gay folks all along.

The Reich Wing would have no defense against this. Either position hurts them - big time!

9. In 3 1/2 years here
Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 05:38 PM by MuseRider
I have had 3 threads get more than a few hits, that is one reason I rarely start threads. I don't have the knack or the name that usually get hits.

If I was not posting and running I would go reply but I must leave. People do care but there is a lot of crap going on and everyone seems to key into their very own things when it gets busy.

I read your posts, lots of people do.

Edit I just kicked it too and added a rushed reply. It is interesting to think about.

12. You are so nice!

I read yours too!

It can be frustrating when the board seems to ignore the enormous injustices going on. I don't think they do for the most part but I do think sometimes they are pushed aside but not out of malice.

To me GLBT issues are the forefront of everything, like the issues of women or race issues. Different but the same. The way we treat others determines the way our country will look and act and the things that are happening now are appalling at the very least.

So, we should keep posting them even if nobody responds simply because every time they are viewed we stand the chance of someone else joining in.

You are sweet, thank you.

10. Join the club, BR
I can sympathize. It's seldom I post anything other than here on the GLBT forum.

I really appreciate and treasure the straight allies who post here. Not only are they openly suppoortive, but they don't mind "slumming" here with us.

At the other end of the spectrum you have the General Discussion and DU Lounge where the homophobia runs high and the IQs run at least 20-points lower that the rest of DU. I've learned to avoid those areas just as I would a convention of Baptists.

13. Class issues are really unpopular here, too.
Threads that allow people to preen and pose and congratulate themselves on how wonderfully virtuous they are, on the other hand, run for days.

17. The problem with this room is it's usually so slow.....but we're all
preaching to the choir for the most part.

I get my head chewed off in the other rooms when I challenge people that there is definite wide-spread homophobia here in DU.

If you bring that up, I can guarantee you will start world war three and your thread won't die for a long long time!
