Please shut up, hatemongers
Last year the Ford Motor Co. started to buy ads in several publications aimed at gay readers. They did so, one presumes, because they realized that gay people buy automobiles, and Ford has, alas, not been selling many automobiles lately. Then the company got assaulted by the American Family Association, a creation of the Rev. Donald Wildmon, a clever right-wing agitator with a hate-based agenda. So Ford announced that it would stop advertising in gay publications.

But then, whoops, Ford reversed its reversal and said, never mind, it was going to advertise in gay publications after all. So then a representative of the AFA announced that it was reinstating its boycott. "We cannot, and will not, sit by as Ford supports a social agenda aimed at the destruction of the family."

What a vile sentence. What a vile sentiment. What overbusy, underbrained worms these people must be. I am not yelling.

My older daughter is a lesbian. She is also the single mother of an adopted child, working to make and sustain a family with jaw-dropping tenacity. I am a member of that family, but she is the head of it. The idea that any part of her social agenda involves the destruction of the family is insulting and stupid. She adopted a child, which means that a child who would not have had a home now has one. It means that a child who would not have rested safely in a mother's arms now does so. These are real family values, not the poison spouted by these thoughtless, gossip-mongering abominations.

1. They're accompices in hiding the true enemy of families: greed.
Greed is within the family and is outside in the form of greedy industrialists who get thousands of times as much money as their employees who are doing all of the work.

Just think of how big a crime this is. They're preventing the biggest destroyer of families from being addressed. And in doing this, they're spreading lies about other families. If there is any justice, these malicious people will suffer greatly for what they're doing. There is no doubt that they are on the side of evil while they're hiding behind good.

I'm too cynical, but I didn't exactly give a standing ovation to Ford for reversing their position. It's because they have no moral stance. The fundies met with them and threatened to boycott, so Ford backed off on the adds. Then a gay rights group met with them, and they decided to go back and do the Ads saying that they have a long tradition of respecting the rights of every person. BS, if they did, they wouldn't of kow-towed to the AFA in the first place. I'm guessing the second group threatened an even nastier boycott.

Ford only has one principle, and that's that it cares about the bottom line.

For clarification, I think they did the right thing by running the ads - but the BS about respecting every individuals....ughhh...

3. Failures need fundraisers too.....
otherwise they'd have to work for a living. That's really all those anti-gay religious zealots are about. They need something to scare the little old ladies who can't afford to, into sending them $20.

Many of the self-righteous preachers dream of making it onto the national stage too, their ultimate goal. Self-glorification! They are truly legends in their own mind...(Google Ken Hutcherson for a prime example of this...)

How many people had ever heard of the "AFA", before they attacked Ford? Precious few, outside of the nut job circle of interbred members they probably have.

Of all the things the Bible says are sinful, you'd think the fundies would fixate on something that actually had an impact on their lives. That would take too much effort and sacrifice though, so they'll never go there. They'll stick to where the easy money and attention is to be found.

They thank God every night for gay folks! As long as there are gay folks, and gullible straight folks, they don't have to work.

5. Thank you, I'm still waiting for one of the anti-gay groups to be shown
not to be involved in fundraising. They are the modern day Pharisees - the billion dollar industry based on hatemongering.
