New Push Begins For Gay Civil Rights Law In Washington State
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon05/12/122905waRts.htm

LGBT civil rights activists are gearing up for a new push to enact an anti-discrimination bill in Washington state.

More than 30 religious leaders and representatives of groups including the Anti-Defamation League met this week to call for passage of the bill.

The measure failed by a single vote (story) last April after Microsoft, the state's biggest company, pulled its support when an evangelical pastor threatened a nationwide boycott of the firm.

The Rev. Ken Hutcherson met with Microsoft officials in the weeks leading up to the crucial vote. (story) The company said the meeting did not influence its decision, but following outrage from civil rights activists it reversed course and it would support the legislation if it came up again for a vote.

2. The Microsoft thing was very weird
It had a lot of Microsofties scratching their heads in confusion. As a whole, the organization has a GLBT-friendly culture, and doesn't shrink from social involvement. Hopefully they'll go in the direction their employees and the top execs seem to stick with, supporting and advocating fairness and equality.
