I just have to share this story because it was so touching to me.
The weekend before Christmas, when my brother and sister-in-law were visiting and talking about their best friends who are total Christofascists, my mother said to them "As the mother of a gay son I cannot stand them or anything they stand for and I don't understand why you associate with people who act like Nazis." I have never been more proud in my life. :hi:
who's parents are dead and never accepted him when they were alive. He's my "date" to all of our family gatherings now that I'm single again and she's usually more excited to see him than me. She had a rough time when I came out 11 years ago, but she has really come around.

the Heart of your own identity, something without which you would be just a zombie. She is a real Christian and your brother and sister-in-law are also Blessed to know her.
In the last couple years both my parents have been amazing - they have come to some drag cabaret shows I've done and both of my parents were interviewed in a short film called "Lipstick Men" that was made about the Seattle drag scene and played in the film festival circuit. For the last two summers my friends and I have trekked out to their place for a big gay BBQ my mother plans. She has started to remind me of the Sharon Gless character on Queer as Folk.
