Hah! Fundi's are slowly learning.
It's important to let people know the truth about this film, according to Dick Rolfe of the Dove Foundation, but evangelicals shouldn't overreact. Hollywood would love to see Christians object to "Brokeback Mountain" the same way they did to "The Last Temptation of Christ."

"If Christians protest too loudly," he said, "they can end up making the mistake of calling attention to a movie that otherwise may not do very well at the box office."

That's exactly what happened with "The Last Temptation of Christ," a blasphemous film which was protested in the 1980s.

I was expecting protests and lots of anger. I was hoping for it to help drum up interest about the movie and encourage people to go see it. Perhaps Fundi's are learning from their mistakes, but the question is... will they be able to resist?

1. Steven Colbert said they'd be "talking about it all the way home!"
A cowboy film, a family values feature, MUST see, he said (though he had not seen it yet). It was a funny review!

2. now if they could only learn to spell!! I went to watch a bunch of them
at a protest against "last temptation", and was amused to see one person picketing and protesting against the studio, which was incorrectly spelled. I pointed this out to her, and she said that it wasn't important. I disagreed, said it made the protestors look like idiots if they couldn't even spell that against which they were protesting. She stalked away, and I strolled away, having done my job for the night.

3. It's just like the "Banned in Boston" signs in the old days
Getting the Fundie Seal of Disapproval is the best thing that can happen to your movie.

4. Reminds me of an old joke about religious differences ...
Jews don't recognize Jesus as the messiah.

Potestants don't recognize the Pope.

Baptists don't recognize each other in the liquor store.

And now we can add a new one ... Fundies don't recognize each other when the theater lights go up after a screening of "Brokeback Mountain." :-D

6. Ain't Focus on the "Family" just the arrogant ones?
As if these people have any shred of understanding about the lives of others. . .the reviewer must have been irritated that the father in the movie didn't take the son into the shower to show him his peepee....
