Hollywood actress Charlize Theron who stars in the current sci-fi movie Aeon Flux has received criticism for her comments on homosexual 'marriage'. After being dogged by reporters over when she and her boyfriend Stuart Townsend are planning to marry, the actress decided to instead use the question to push for legalization of homosexual "marriage".
Theron told the television entertainment show Extra: "We came up with a new idea that we said that we would get married the day that gays and lesbians can get married - when that right is given to them. We've decided that we're gonna use that in a positive way, so the day that law gets passed then we'll get married."
Focus on the Family spokesperson Carrie Gordon Earll commented on Theron's gay 'marriage' promotion saying, "Its unfortunate when you have someone paid to be an entertainer who doesn't bother to check the research or get her facts straight before she makes comments like this." Earll told LifeSiteNews.com that "If marriage was something really important and sacred to this woman we would think she'd want to make that commitment to someone she's involved with."
Even pro-homosexual 'marriage' activists are troubled by Theron's remarks. In her column on lesbian pop culture, called 'Best. Lesbian. Week. Ever.', Sarah Warn says of Theron's comments, "Nice sentiment, and I don't doubt she supports gay marriage. But the way this is worded, and the fact that she has consistently said she doesn't ever want to marry, makes her statement more like a modern version of 'when unicorns fly' than a show of support."
