Conservatives angry at Norquist for Log Cabin speech
http://www.advocate.com/news_detail_ektid21793.asp

A conservative leader is taking some serious heat over his appearance at a fund-raiser for the gay political group Log Cabin Republicans—not from the left but from the right wing.

Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, was the featured speaker at Log Cabin's biggest annual fund-raiser, called the "Grand Ol' Party."

Social conservative leaders are calling Norquist's appearance "traitorous," "deceitful," and "a betrayal." Cathie Adams, president of the antigay conservative group Texas Eagle Forum, told the right-wing Cybercast News Service, "If he was a serious economic conservative, Grover Norquist would not have at a fund-raiser for a group bent on the destruction of traditional families."

love it when they eat their own!

2. If you haven't seen it already...

...you should check out the documentary "Gay Republicans" on DVD. It's about the rift between the Log Cabiners who wanted to endorse Bush during the 2004 election even after he proposed a Constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and the Log Cabiners who couldn't bring themselves to endorse him. A bizarre little movie but well worth it. Be on the lookout for the real-life gay version of David Brent from "The Office".

3. grover ya just don't hate enough for the base
He's probably wanting to keep the log cabinites in the klavern solely on fiscal issues. The religiously insane can't have any of that. They'd rather alienate every group. I have yet to figure the log cabin guys out. Their voting pattern is a mystery to me.

5. Capitalism requires periodic human sacrifice
and gays are the sacrificial group de jour.

7. Oh...and who's the next sacrafice du jour? Asians?
I bet the bigots, fundies, nazis, and sheetheads will go after them next. There's already gloom and doom reporting on China.

10. Let's see
Considering how much support the right wingers get from the Koreans and the Vietnamese, they will be shooting themselves in the foot again.

6. I read somewhere that he was snug in the closet, next to David Drier
Scott McClellan, and Ken Mehlman...no idea if it is true. He did marry late in life, quite recently in fact, sorta like Yassir Arafat, come to think of it...to a supposedly devout Muslim: http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/451

Is Grover Norquist an Islamist? Paul Sperry, author of the new book, Infiltration, in an interview calls Grover Norquist "an agent of influence for Islamists in Washington." When asked by FrontPageMag.com why a Republican anti-tax lobbyist should so passionately promote Islamist causes, Sperry implied that Norquist has converted to Islam: "He's marrying a Muslim, and when I asked Norquist if he himself has converted to Islam, he brushed the question off as too ‘personal.'" As Lawrence Auster comments on this exchange, "Clearly, if Norquist hadn't converted to Islam, or weren't in the process of doing so, he would simply have answered no."

Indeed, Norquist married Samah Alrayyes, a Palestinian Muslim, on April 2, 2005, and Islamic law limits a Muslim woman to marrying a man who is Muslim. This is not an abstract dictum but a very serious imperative, with many "honor" killings having resulted from a woman ignoring her family's wishes.

Alrayyes (now known as Samah Norquist) has radical Islamic credentials of her own; she served as communications director at the Islamic Free Market Institute, the Islamist organization Norquist helped found. Now, she is employed as a public affairs officer at the U.S. Agency for International Development – and so it appears that yet another Islamist finds employment in a branch of the U.S. government.

Grover Norquist has for some years now been promoting Islamist organizations, including even the Council on American-Islamic Relations; for example, he spoke at CAIR's conference, "A Better America in a Better World" on October 5, 2004. Frank Gaffney has researched Norquist's ties to Islamists in his exhaustive, careful, and convincing study, "Agent of Influence" and concludes that he is enabling "a political influence operation to advance the causes of radical Islamists, and targeted most particularly at the Bush Administration."

The right wingers will no doubt go nuts over this too--cozying up to gays is one thing, but marrying one a' them there terrists, too???

8. I do wonder if Ms. Cathie has any idea
of how Ms. Schlafly's gay son was doing. . .being an extension of that Traditional Family and all. . .

Why, isn't that the Eagle Forum's primary example of how conservatives seem to produce gay offspring as if they would use their own children as fundraising pawns?
