"Michigan pulls same-sex benefits from contracts"

I hope everyone who voted for Proposal 2 "not to take away anyone's right, but just to define the traditional form of marriage" is happy.

2. We knew this would happen
This is just the beginning. I'm so disappointed that the people of my state voted for this proposal. We all knew it wasn't worded just to define marriage, but to be much more broad-reaching. I hope it's appealed to the state supreme court and they overturn it.

4. Many assumed this was marriage only
After the vote I saw articles saying that many who voted for this proposal thought it only restricted same sex marriages, and many voting for it actually supported civil unions. I wish the media made this clear before the vote.

From the story I heard on the local NPR station, it sounded like they were hoping for a suit based upon this, so that they could resume the benfits if ordered by the courts.

to stop wringing their hands on the sidelines and get on the right side here. Union folks are negotiating contracts which include domestic partner benefits and the Freepers are null and voiding them at the ballot box. It's only one small step before this will afffect private corporations and industry where their asses will get hauled into court if they offer employees any benefits "similar" to what married couples get.

(Had to edit-can't spell when I'm mad-LOL)

...in our State Supreme Court.

Voters passed an amendment that banned same-sex marriage AND civil unions AND private contractural rights!

http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/frontpage/index.ssf?/base/news-2/110197119716910.xml

The LA amendment prohibits this: "a legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for any unmarried individuals." Can't get more iron-clad than that!

Fuckers!!
